Ruwan Dissanayake

Ruwan Dissanayake, MD, is a transplant surgeon at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, the country’s largest tertiary care hospital. Currently, He leads a transplant program that conducts the most extensive deceased donor program in Sri Lanka and one of two main liver transplant programs in the country. After completing liver transplant fellowships from Australian National Liver Transplant Centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, he returned to Sri Lanka in 2015. Since then, he has been working with the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka to develop a countrywide deceased donor network and a liver transplant service for the country.
