Dr. Madeleine (Mady) Heldman is a senior fellow in Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. She completed her medical school and internal medicine residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. While in Chicago, she developed an interest in transplantation and immunocompromised hosts, leading projects in outcomes research and bacterial infections in solid organ transplant recipients. Dr. Heldman is deeply engaged in studying viral infections in both solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplant recipients. She is currently leading a registry of solid organ transplant recipients with COVID-19 under the mentorship of Dr. Ajit Limaye and Dr. Cindy Fisher, and looks forward to a career in academic, immunocompromised infectious diseases. When not caring for patients or pursuing research endeavors, she enjoys running through the streets and parks of Seattle, hiking in the North Cascades, and listening to podcasts.
